Day 3 Frustrations in Missouri

Our plan today was to go to the Gateway Arch in St. Louis and ride a steamboat down the Mississippi. But that didn't happen. We called once we got into St. Louis to get directions to the bus parking since we are in the RV and pulling our car. The chick on the phone was not help at all and we ended up in East St. Louis, which is not where you want to be! Billboards all over East St. Louis talked about building character...wonder why???? Not a safe place, or so we hear.

Glenn then called and spoke with someone else only to be taken to a road with an overpass too low for our RV to pass under. People were so rude, both driving and walking in the city. So, we drove past the Arch, snapped a few pics, bounced around on the cobblestone roads before finding our way back to I 70W. No trip down the river, no looking over the city up in the Arch.

The only high point of the day was visiting Les Bourgeois Winery. Yummy wines and very nice people. I only wish we could have visited their Bistro or A-frame wine garden, but again this big ol' RV just couldn't make it. It looks beautiful, check out their web site: http://www.missouriwine.com/

I bought 2 bottles but liked all the sweet wines. I'm not much of a dry wine lover. You can really taste the concord grapes in the Concord wine. Riverboat Red was the other one I bought. Wish I could share a glass with you.

After 455.1 miles we stopped at a rest area to have dinner and chill for a while. We took a walk around the rest area and took some random pics...

We spent the night at a Wal-Mart in Independence, MO. It was actually much more comfortable and quiet than we expected.
