Day 4 The Eisenhower Center

World War II Admiral Eisenhower.
You have to really respect any US President who will, or has in the past, fought in a war. I wonder if that is why they tout him as the "Peacemaking President"?

The grounds here were beautiful. We couldn't take flash pictures in any of the buildings and we haven't figured out how to turn the flash off and still get a good picture.

President Eisenhower's boyhood home

Mrs. Eisenhower had great taste but this was small living accomodations for such a large family, especially a family of boys! Our guide told us the boys spent most of their time outside. And the site where the information center stands now used to be their elementary school. Back then they didn't have a hot lunch program, so the boys frequently brought children home with them for lunch. Sometimes she would feed up to 18 additional children according to the boys.

We learned alot about President Eisenhower, his family, his patriotism and his Presidency.
